About Tom Delonge Stratocaster Guitar
The Tom DeLonge Stratocaster is a signature model guitar that was designed in collaboration between Tom DeLonge, the guitarist and vocalist for the band Blink-182, and Fender. Tom DeLonge had a great influence in the design of the guitar, as it was tailored to his playing style and aesthetic preferences. The guitar features a sleek and modern design, with a lightweight alder body and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck also included a large 1970s CBS headstock, which gives the guitar a unique and vintage look. The guitar was fitted with an American 2-Point tremolo system, which was later replaced by a hardtail bridge. The guitar also had a Seymour Duncan Invader pickup in the bridge position, which provides a high-output sound that is well-suited for punk and alternative rock styles.
Another version of this guitar is the Squier version, which is a cheaper version made for budget-conscious musicians. Instead of having a Seymour Duncan Invader pickup, it featured a Duncan Designed Detonator, which is a cheaper version of the Invader. The Squier version also featured a standard white pickguard, as opposed to the pearloid pickguard found on the Fender version.
The Tom DeLonge Stratocaster was discontinued, and it has been rumored that DeLonge might re-continue his signature Stratocaster, but this has been proven false. However, DeLonge later released another signature guitar, the Gibson Tom DeLonge Signature ES-333, which is the successor of his first signature guitar with Fender.
The guitar’s sound and tonal characteristics are well-suited for punk, alternative rock, and other styles of music that rely on high-energy, aggressive guitar tones. Some notable musicians or bands that have used the Tom DeLonge Stratocaster in their music are Tom DeLonge himself and his band Blink-182, and some fans of the band and his guitar style.
