First, let’s look at some of terms that you’ll need to understand:

Voltage: Measured in volts (V), voltage is the ‘pressure’ or ‘force’ of electricity. This is generally supplied by an assortment (such as a 9V battery) or “mains electricity,” the outlets inside your house operate at 120V. Outlets abroad operate in a different voltage, and that’s why you’ll need a converter when traveling.
